Hi everybody

I am David from Italy

Thanks for your updated fishng report about Capeverde marlin fishing.

Hard for me the german language but anyway .......... I caught something between the lines all the same.

I am going to fish with Bebiche from the 8 to the 21 of may with an additional week just shooting pictures aboard different charter boats.

Hope I will have the chance to chat with some of you at the club nautico next may sharing beers and fishing stories.

We all hope this season as successfully as the previous one. Every day I remember my 57 marlin in 10 days with a best day 14. Hard to believe . Harder to reply I am afraid.

Hi Uwe

Thanks for your support.

Your translation work is really very useful for me as I have to keep up to date some friends of mine at the Marlinnut international trip reporter forum.

Hope you don't mind..........

Hi to Wolfgang and Berno as well.........

And congratulation on your new 2007 TBF trophy for your captain Simon.

Berno, is your new captain Bonze already in Mindelo?

You Know The mindelo Channel will be a bit lacking and sad without Berno at the helm this year....

And of course Berno Andy Fanter, our Club's (Sportfishing Club of the British Isles) sole American member (from Kansas) was presented with the Foundation's 'Atlantic' trophy - awarded for the most (by one angler) tagged Atlantic Blue Marlin. The bulk of his fish - 51 - were tagged in the Cape Verde Islands, but Andy also recorded fish from Venezuela and La Gomera (Canary Islands).

Best wishes

Problems with Amelia

Reading posts on another forum - http://www.marlinnut.com/forums/dcboard.…sg_id=4785&page= - it appears that Zak (in Mindelo) has experienced serious problems with Amelia's engines. There's even talk of a requirement to replace rather than repair them, and that this could take six weeks impacting on charters in the remainder of March and all of April.

Um ... certainly some of our Club (Sportfishing Club of the British Isles) members are booked with him in April. So if readers of this post have similarly booked it would well be worth contacting Zak to fully understand the extent of the problem and determine whether there are any continguency plans in place. I assume that individuals will have already booked (and paid for) flights.

So should I hear anything further I'll post again. Alternatively is there anything that David (from Italy) or Berno could add?

Hi Dave

I got an email from zac last week .

He is LIsbon at the moment. I think Thomas and Zak will order two new engines and gear boxes through CAT dealer in Portugal and will install them on Amelia as soon as possible.

I am confident all this work could be achieved before mid april.

Bad luck but such a thing that can happen evrybody everytime.

Cross fingers

Maybe Berno or Wolfgang are better up to date.

I got an email from my friend , the US angler Andy Fanter ten minutes ago:

"David,I spoke with Zak on the phone today----they have the parts and a Caterpillar mechanic will begin rebuilding the engines next week. The boat should be operational by early April. That is great news for everyone involved. The work would have started this week but Easter is a major holiday.Andy"

So Guys, take it easy. Zac will be back in a couple of weeks.

I am so happy about that as Zac is really a friend besides a nice captain.

Thanks Wolfgang

Please keep us informed about Bebiche daily fishing.

I think it is the only boat trolling at the moment.

Ask Ferdi about water temperature and colour, baitfish and birds presence .....

Gracias
