Port Stephens, NSW, Australia - Great White attack plus juvenile Black Marlin inshore

Just thought I add an e-mail I received this morning from one of our members currently in Australia. He and his wife, given family commitments, spend six months of the year in Australia and six months in Belgium.

Quoted

Hi Dave,
We had a shark attack inside the bay on Wednesday, a local woman who was wakeboarding was thrown in the air by a great white, it then caught her and took her down, then released her, apart from a severed arm it took away part of her face. A great white was spotted yesterday inshore measuring 3.5 meters.

It has been reported that the commercial boats are dumping their rubbish where the shark attack took place.

Also a large number of juvenile black marlin are being caught inshore, the bay is bubbling with baitfish. I'm being picked up at first light Sunday by my trailer boat friend and we are going after the inshore marlin, should be fun!!!!!!!!

Regards

Mike

I'll update you as to his trip later. This however is a newspaper report of the Shark attack - http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/did-t…x-1226023585267.

Shark attack

Hi Dave,
thanks for that information. Of course the shark attack is horrible for everyone. I think the inconsideration of boat crews, in this "throwing away the rubbish" is often the cause for attacks like this.
Two years ago I heard from a shark attack (Longimanus) who hurted a female diver in Egypt after the diver-group feeded the sharks. ?(

With such backgrounds shark attacks are not amazingly.

Best wishes,
Uwe
